Blog – Buying Into the Lies

When I let myself ponder the fact that it has taken me to 44 years of age to come to the realization that I was buying into all the lies of the evil one, I am overwhelmed. The surprise is not that I was fooled…but that I CONTINUE to fall for what I KNOW are lies!

When I let myself ponder the fact that it has taken me to 44 years of age to come to the realization that I was buying into all the lies of the evil one, I am overwhelmed.  The surprise is not that I was fooled…but that I CONTINUE to fall for what I KNOW are lies!  I believe God’s word, yet the struggle to cling to His truth is real.  Just think for a minute about the last crisis you went through, big or small.  Was your first inclination to pray and seek a move of God?  To seek His guidance?  Oh, how I wish I could say that was my first reaction.  My first reaction is usually panic, though you would never know it by my outward appearance.  But, yes, inside I’m having a meltdown.  Then, once I calm down and realize there is NOTHING I can do about the situation, I pray.  But, what if my FIRST reaction were to pray?  Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) says “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”.  So, rather than worry about what I can’t do, I can be confident in what God can do.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for who You are and all that You do.  Thank You that we can come to You about every situation.  Thank You for peace that transcends all understanding.  Thank You for guarding our hearts and our minds in Christ.  We love You.  We trust You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
