Doubt

I know God wants me to trust Him. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5, NIV). I know He’s made a way many times before. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19, NIV). I am ashamed to admit how many times I’ve failed to remember the times and the ways He’s come through for me.

I question.  I doubt.  I’m impatient.  I want to know all the answers to all the questions right now.  The fact that information, entertainment, and any number of distractions are available any time of the day and night all help to cultivate this attitude of instant gratification and being ‘in the know’.  It takes a conscious effort to turn away from it all and focus on God’s word.  Even then, I am often left with more questions than answers. I’m ashamed to admit how easy it is for me to start relying on my own strength, my own resources – knowing they are nowhere near enough.  Yet, God is merciful.  He does not leave me to wallow in my messes.  Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever (Psalms 106:1, NIV).

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for grace and mercy.  Thank You for loving us unconditionally.  Please help us to remember Your faithfulness so that we will be able to trust You with everything in our lives.  Help us to be still in Your presence so that we can hear from You.  We love You.  We trust You.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.
