Known

Can we say with conviction what we will or won’t do and what our motivations are? Since our knowledge of each other and of ourselves is so severely limited, how can we even begin to understand God?

Do we ever really know another person?  Do we ever really even know ourselves?  Can we say with 100% certainty what a person will or won’t do and what their motivations are?   Can we say with conviction what we will or won’t do and what our motivations are?  Since our knowledge of each other and of ourselves is so severely limited, how can we even begin to understand God?  In Isaiah 55:9 God says “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”  Trust.  God sees and knows everything.  He formed every hair on my head.  He has already seen every situation I find myself in the middle of.  While I’m trying to draw near to Him, trying to know Him better, He knows me…and He still loves me.  For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known (1 Corinthians 13:12).

Heavenly Father,

Thank You that we are fully known and fully loved by You.  Thank You for Your word and for prayer that lets us draw near and get to know You.  Father, help us to discern what is from You and help us to heed Your voice.  We love You.  We trust You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
