Nobody wants to be seen as weak. I know that for myself, I want people to see me as someone who is strong, someone who can be counted on when the going gets tough. The truth is, I often feel lost, afraid, and weak. Why is it so hard to admit these feelings and ask for help when we need it? Instead we forge ahead, often getting in over our heads until everything comes crashing down around us, or we get burned out and give up. It becomes more evident every day that prayer must be a daily way of life for us as Christ followers. We must go to the source of our help to renew our strength. I am encouraged by 1 Corinthians 1:25 which tells us that “…the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” We can be sure of the fact (and take comfort in knowing) that any weakness of God is still stronger than the strongest human. We do not have to be perfect, or strong. God is always with us and He is more than enough. In 2 Corinthians 12:9 Jesus says to Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” So, like Paul, let us delight in our weaknesses so that Christ’s power may rest on us. For when we are weak, then we are strong.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for always being with us. Thank You that Your grace is sufficient and that Your power is made perfect in our weakness. Help us to delight in our weaknesses so that Your power may rest on us. We love You. We trust You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
