Try as we might to convince those around us that we are perfect, there is not one of us who is without sin. No matter how much good we have done, there is not one of us who has not done evil. Yet, we often show contempt for people when they are caught doing the very things we’ve been guilty of doing! Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? (Romans 2:2-3). We have got to leave being God to God! We can trust Him to handle it. We are not commanded to condemn. We are commanded to, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). I am not saying that we must willfully participate in or condone sin. What I am saying is that we must be mindful that we all sin and that God is patient with us all that we may come to repentance. Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? (Romans 2:4).
Heavenly Father,
Please forgive us for condemning others for sins we commit ourselves. Please help us love our neighbors as ourselves and leave the judgement to You. We love You. We trust You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
