Do Not Be Deceived

Think about the thing(s) that have kept you or someone you know from knowing and serving God. I won’t presume to know you or your situation. However, I do know the devil IS a liar and will use whatever and whomever he can to keep us from having an abundant life with God, IF we let him.

While reading Matthew 24, I was struck by how much of it applies to our world today.  Just think about all of the wars, rumors of wars, tensions between nations, famines, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.  Think about the fact that in 2009, 77% of Americans identified as Christians according to Pew Research Center surveys.  In 2019, that number decreased to 65%.

…and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people (Matthew 24:11).  Thinking back on all the ways I’ve been deceived makes me angry, humbled, and thankful all at once.  It also breaks my heart for every soul who is being deceived, but cannot see it yet.  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10).  The evil one does not want us to realize the full life we can have in Jesus.  Think about the thing(s) that have kept you or someone you know from knowing and serving God.  I won’t presume to know you or your situation.  However, I do know the devil IS a liar and will use whatever and whomever he can to keep us from having an abundant life with God, IF we let him.

We must open our bibles and study God’s word to make sure what we are being taught in our churches and small groups are in line with it.  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).   We must pray for each other and bear each other’s burdens.  Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2).  We must also pray, without ceasing, that we will be able to stand firm to the end so that we will be saved.  …but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved (Matthew 24:13).

Heavenly Father,

Thank You that we can have a full life in You.  Please give us hearts and minds to study your word so that we will be able to correctly handle the word of truth.  Help us to carry each other’s burdens.  Give us strength to stand firm to the end.  We love You.  We trust You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
