Purpose – Glorify God

Our culture is constantly telling us how to make ourselves look better and how to market ourselves. Often, we try to project this onto our Heavenly Father. The reality is that God doesn’t need us.

Do you ever wonder what it is you’re supposed to be doing?  Do you think to yourself, ‘What is my life purpose?’  I do.  All.  The.  Time.  The reality is that God doesn’t need us.  He created us for His glory.  Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made (Isaiah 43:7).  Our culture is constantly telling us how to make ourselves look better and how to market ourselves.  Often, we try to project this onto our Heavenly Father.  We think He can’t possibly love us because of x, y, and z.  Maybe we believe He loves us, but we’re not convinced we’re forgiven because our sins are so great.  Psalms 139 tells us that He knit us together in our mother’s womb.  He knows everything about us.  And He still loves us, forgives us, and reconciles us to Himself through Jesus Christ.

So, what is our life purpose?  It is to glorify God in all things.  Where do we start, you ask?  ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’ (Matthew 22:37-39).

Dear God,

Thank You for reconciliation with You through Jesus.  Please help us give You glory in all things.  We love You.  We trust You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
