All For the Glory of God

What does it mean to ‘do it all for the glory of God’?

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).  We spend our time on many different things throughout the course of a day.  How many of us take the time to think about how we can give glory to God?  I am certainly lacking in this area.  It’s so easy for me to get busy with the daily task of working and taking care of my family that I fail to keep God first.

What does it mean to ‘do it all for the glory of God’?  While in context this verse is about not getting caught up on rules about what one can or cannot eat or drink, it also instructs believers that – no matter our circumstances – our lives should be a reflection that we are children of the most high God.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience (Colossians 3:12).  The way we live our lives is our testimony.  God may be using you and me to draw someone else closer to Him.  The examples we set in our homes matter.  The examples we set in our workplaces matter. The examples we set walking down the street matter.  God gets the glory in all of it.

Dear God,

Thank You for grace and mercy.  Please forgive us for failing to give You glory in all things.  Help us keep You first.  You are worthy of all honor and praise.  We love You.  We trust You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
