Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled (Matthew 5:6). So many times, we think we have moral authority in an area and we call others out for their sins. But, do we hunger and thirst for righteousness in order to be filled so that we may show grace and speak truth into the lives of those around us?

Think about the thing(s) that have kept you or someone you know from knowing and serving God. I won’t presume to know you or your situation. However, I do know the devil IS a liar and will use whatever and whomever he can to keep us from having an abundant life with God, IF we let him.
Trust God
I have yelled the words, “I just don’t understand!” out of frustration many times when things don’t work out the way I planned or the way that I think they should. I wanted to be in control, rather than seek The One who truly is in control.
No Worries
I am a worrier. Yes, you read that correctly. Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? (Matthew 6:27). Of course not. Still, I dream up all kinds of scenarios in my head of what could go wrong.
There have been times when I’ve thrown caution to the wind and indulged in activities and behaviors that I know are displeasing to God and are downright sinful. I am so very thankful for God’s grace and mercy instead of the justice that I deserve.
If we keep trying to ‘measure up’ based on our own efforts, we will keep feeling the need to exalt ourselves, which makes us feel the need to put others down (even if unintentionally), and the cycle will continue.
No matter how much good we have done, there is not one of us who has not done evil. Yet, we often show contempt for people when they are caught doing the very things we’ve been guilty of doing!
I think it’s good to have goals and to give God the glory when He blesses us to reach them. Sometimes, though, it seems like everyone around us is succeeding left and right, but we are just not making our mark. We see them scheming, plotting, and backstabbing to get ahead and we rail at the unfairness of it all.
Dissatisfaction often creeps into the way I feel about my life or some aspect of it. I need to exercise more. I need to take another class. I need to set a better example for my kids. There is always something more that I need to do. The issue here is that sometimes I lose sight of my need for God, which is what fuels the dissatisfaction.
Be Humble
Have you ever been in a situation where the tension was so thick you could cut it? I have. Did you humble yourself and make the first move to ease the tension? I didn’t. Were you patient with those around you? I wasn’t. Did you bear with them in love? I didn’t.
